Some stay on, some change.
The following Executive members remained in post after elections were held at a lively AGM on Saturday, March 21st. They are: President Peter Birati; Assistant Secretary Jerry Fakaua; Treasurer Ms. Kairao Tune; Male Committee Keukeu Tiimi; Female Rep. Ms. Terina Kaureata; and Athletes' Rep Ben Bibiti.
In the absence of Vice-President Brian Fukuyama studying in Fiji, a new Vice-President was elected with Tonobwa Kaoten taking over, having already had experience on the Committee. It is good to see a current athlete on the Executive, with Kiatau Cama being elected to Tonobwa's prevous position. Finally and most significantly Tekabara Arobati (Raurenti) returned to the Committee in place of Ms. Maata Yetzes, having previously served as Assistant Secretary. This is a busy time of year for Federation Secretaries with a number of imminent deadlines to be met. See image of Tekabara.
In her time as Secretary, Maata has given much time and energy in trying to keep KAA making progress and keeping up with its commitments. A number of people have been fulsome in their praise for her efforts. See image of Maata dispensing goodwill in Glasgow.
2015 Plans.
Among other competitive events this year are World Athletics Days in May, the Oceania AA Championships in Cairns in May, the Pacific Games in PNG in July, the World Youth Championships in Colombia also in July, the World Championships in Beijing in August, and the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa in September.
So there should be many opportunities for KAA athletes to enjoy competition and spread their culture. It is to be hoped that the new Executive team facilitates this.
