EXCELLENT THROWING !
In the third Grand Prix meeting, held in Apia, Samoa, yesterday, Rabangaki Nawai set a remarkable new National Record for the Javelin of 55.09m. He placed second in the event. Supporting this performance was a fantastic improvement by Bonea Tokataake using a 700gm. implement. He improved his PB from 41m.+ to a huge 54.02m. With these performances, the boys took themselves a massive step towards Regional standard.
In the main Championships which start tomorrow (Thursday Samoan time), Rabangaki will spend two days doing the Octathlon and Bonea will attempt all three main throws.
Summarising the rest of the team's efforts, Tekooki has improved his 800m. time to 2-10.48, Mariuti almost ran a 100m. PB with 11.68, Harry jumped 6.44m. in the LJ, supported by Buraieta with 6.29m., and Tanroo (in Fiji on grass) ran 11.88 and 24.24 for the sprints.
CATCHING UP !
The group left behind in Fiji is expected to arrive here tonight - but we have been through those expectations before ! So we should be joined by Rianimarewe (coach) and Tanroo, Beteru and a much-delayed Tiim Romatoa. They are due at about midnight !
