THE QUOTA TEAM.
Four athletes will be fully-funded by Oceania AA to compete in the OAA Open and under-20 Championships in Cairns in June.
The two male competitors will be: Raobu Tarawa competing in the Open Throws (he is holder of the National Records for Shot and Discus, may also compete in Javelin and Hammer, and is an experienced international); and Kiatau Cama, for whom this will be his first overseas experience, and he will go in the under-20 100m., High Jump (in which he has been National Schools' champion), and Long Jump.
The ladies, both of whom will compete in the under-20 events, will be: Etita Tio, who has overseas experience; and Teina(banteuea) Tewaki for whom this will be a new experience. They will both compete in High Jump and Long Jump. Both have featured successfully in National Schools' competitions.
The Team Manager will be KAA Executive member Ms. Rusila Teraoi.
GOING TO WJC.
A Youth-aged male athlete will also travel to Cairns. He is sprinter Enoka Kirata who is aiming for the World Junior Championships in Barcelona in July. It is intended that he will compete in Cairns, attend an Oceania Training Camp, then travel to Spain with the Oceania team.
