HOLES IN THE FLOOR !
We have been here, upstairs in a wing of the National Telecom building (TSKL), for more than five years. The first sign of a problem was when holes appeared in the floor of the "Boardroom". You could see the ground floor room through the holes ! For our monthly Executive Committee Meetings, you did not drop your pen on the floor ! Nor did you stand too near the wall when switching the air-con control !
PILLARS IN THE CORRIDOR !
The next, and more dramatic, happening was the insertion of two substantial supporting steel pillars in the corridor outside our office door ! They were made to fit tightly between the main roof beam and the tops of dividing walls on the ground floor. When we checked with the Telecom staff we were assured that they were going to survey the problem and then give us perhaps a month's notice of having to move.
RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY !
Today (Oct. 25th.) we received word that the engineers had done a check and considered that a roof collapse might occur if we had any more seriously prolonged rainfall, such as we suffered last week. Instead of "notice" we have been asked to move out "as soon as possible" !!! That - as we have already found - might be easier said than done. Then there is the question of rent. Can we find somewhere else, as conveniently situated and with the same facilities, for the same cost ?
Keep watching for further news !
