SLOW - but SURE !
On a bright, clear, warm Sunday morning (Oct. 11), KAA staged a Half-Marathon from the Hospital to the National Stadium, and a simultaneous 10km. from just over half-way along that course
In spite of publicity and advertising, only one male (Kaboka Favae) came to the Half-Marathon. He looked cool (see photo) and set off at a steady pace. At that time of the morning, the main risk is from dogs rather than traffic !
I drove ahead of him to Taborio Gas Station, where I left a water bottle for him. One female, Banrenga Baikia, came. She has run this before. However, today she was much slower than before - but she finished cheerfully !
I provided another water stop about 5 km. from the finish.
RESULTS.
10 km. Road race. 1. Banrenga Baikia. 1-12-54
Half-Marathon. 1. Kaboka Favae. 1-58-25
THANKS.
Thanks to the two runners. Also to Kaeka and Eria from the KAA Committee for getting up early and giving their time. Eria did the timing, and Kaeka the prize presentations.
IMAGES. Check out the attached images of Kaboka herewith. See other story for images of Banrenga.
