Athletics PNG has published a ranking list of performances for the year to date. Most of the action to date has been overseas but the focus is beginning switch to PNG now with the domestic track and field season getting underway. To date the only PNG results reported have been from Lae where Wesley Logorava and Peniel Joshua have shown good early season form and young Nancy Malamut has show potential in the 400m after starting her athletics career in the 100m and 200m. There will be a regular Saturday morning competition in Lae for the next seven weeks to prepare athletes for the National Championships on the Queens Birthday weekend. Athletes are encouraged to complete a registration form this week and report to the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium at 9am Saturday for the competition. This weekend will see Programme A events conducted which are 100m , 400m , 1500m, 100m hurdles, Triple jump , high jump and shot put. This programme will be repeated on May 7, May 21 and June 4. Next weekend competition April 30 will see programme B events which are 200m, 800m, 3000m, 400m hurdles, long jump, discus and javelin. This programme will be repeated on May 14 and May 28.
