Sharon Kwarula and Rellie Kaputin continued their record breaking form in the USA last weekend with outstanding performances in Texas and Iowa respectively. Competing at Drake Stadium in Des Moines Iowa , home to the famous Drake Relays on Friday Kaputin smashed her own national record in the long jump with a leap of 5.91m in her sixth and last jump of the competition. It capped an outstanding series of jumps for the tolai girl who opened with a jump of 5.50m and got better with every jump as she went 5.66 , 5.66 , 5.75 , 5.78 and finally 5.91m. The following day Kaputin triple jumped one centimeter over her national record of 12.22m but the wind reading of +2.1metres per second meant that this cannot be classed as a national record. Meanwhile over in Canyon , Texas on her home track Sharon Kwarula ran a superb 100m hurdles race, breasting the tape in 13.51 seconds. Again , this was wind assisted but it does show that the PNG national record holder is in superb form as the outdoor season approaches the half way stage. Kwarula heads to California this week for the Mt Sac Relays where she will compete in both the 100mh and 400m h
