PNG dominated the final day of athletics in Wallis today winning ten gold medals , including three of the four relays, and six silver medals.Betty Burua won the triple jump to add to her 400m hurdles gold in the morning and was part of both the 4*100m and 4*400m winning relay teams to take her personal tally to five gold for the Games.Mowen Boino also won two gold and broke the 110m hurdle national record in the process.
Eunice steven won the heptathlon ; Poro Gahekave the womens 3000m steeplechase and Toea Wisil the 200m.The mens 4*100m relay team crossed the line second but were awarded gold after Fiji was disqualified. Young Utu Secondary student Raymond Koniel from New Ireland won the bronze medal in the mens 400m hurdles in his first international competition. The PNG Athletics medal tally for the Games was 15 gold 11 silver and nine bronze to place second overall behind New Caledonia
