The Nova Scotia under-15 boys returned to the win column on Thursday at the national age-group basketball championships at Saint Mary’s.

Nova Scotia raced away to a 21-3 lead in the first quarter on its way to a 76-38 win over P.E.I. in the consolation round.

Ryan Munro topped the scoring list for the winners with 16 points. Jaren Johnson added 13 and Joe Frenette 10.

Jassin States had a game-high 10 rebounds.

Will Vidito had 10 points for P.E.I.

Alberta 64, Manitoba 50: Benjamin Krikke had 17 points and 12 rebounds for Alberta in consolation play.

Shawn Maranan hooped 15 for Manitoba.

Quebec 83, B.C. 56: Gideon Dwumfour had 12 and Damion Squire and Haris Elezovich 11 each as Quebec pushed on to the semifinals.

Christopher Ross had 11 for B.C.

Ontario 100, Newfoundland and Labrador 39: Noah Wharton registered 22 points, making Ontario the other semifinalist. Ben Clouter-Gergen notched 15 points in the loss.

 

Under-17

B.C. defeated Manitoba 59-56 and will play Nova Scotia in Friday’s semifinal at 8:15 p.m.

Keenan Dowell had 14 and Karnick James 13 as B.C. bounced the defending champions after trailing 29-22 at the half.

James Wagner had 18 for Manitoba.

Ontario 107, Alberta 84: RJ scored a game-high 24 points to go along with six assists and four rebounds. Scott Mazutinec had 17 points and seven rebounds for Alberta. Ontario will play Quebec in the other semifinal on Friday.

Newfoundland and Labrador 69, P.E.I. 36: Nathan Barker had 13 and Matthew McCrowe and Chris Hughes 11 each as Newfoundland and Labrador rolled in consolation play.

Chris Richard had 12 for P.E.I.

Saskatchewan 92, New Brunswick 77: Ethan Stone had 22 points and Ben Hillis 13 assists for Saskatchewan in the consolation round.

Luke Nelson had 23 points in the loss.
