Coronavirus: Basketball England cancel basketball activity for remainder of 2019/20 season

As most of you will already be aware, Basketball England have announced the cancellation of all basketball activities for the remainder of this season. As the EKBA is affiliated via EB we must apply this directive to all of our competitions.

Further information relating to this can be found at https://www.basketballengland.co.uk/news/coronavirus-basketball-england-cancel-basketball-activity-for-remainder-of-201920-season/

The EKBA committee met before BE's announcement and decided that all of this season's competitions will be declared 'Null and Void' as it would be impossible to complete the outstanding fixtures within a reasonable 'time-frame'. This also means there will be no Cup competitions or Presentations, even though arangements were already in place.

Please ensure that all players are aware of the governing body's directive and the advice to not be involved in 'unaffiliated activity', which would not be covered by BE insurance and would be acting against Government advice.

We will be monitoring the situation over the coming weeks and months, and should there be any further develoipments or changes of direction from Government or BE we will keep you all informed.

Once this is all over, we can hopefully look ahead to a much better next season, which shall also be our 60th year of competition, which we plan to 'celebrate in style'.

Keep safe everyone!
