A chance to pick your Dream Teams

FOOTBALL West and partner Gold Fields are putting together the ultimate State Dream Teams – and want the Western Australian football public to help pick them.
The Gold Fields WA State Dream Teams will celebrate the achievements of the outstanding players and coaches who have represented Western Australia over the past 118 years.
The four teams are: Gold Fields Male State Senior Team; Gold Fields Female State Senior Team; Gold Fields Male State Junior Team; Gold Fields Female State Junior Team
A coach for each of team is also required.
Nominations can go back to that very first match in 1902, when the WA Men’s State Team took on the touring England cricket side. Since then the game here has grown out of all recognition – so much so, it is now the No.1 participation team sport in WA. And that means there is no shortage of talent to choose from.
But it’s not just about who was the best player on the pitch. Football West are also looking for those who have made a significant impact on the football community, including pioneers for a new generation of footballers.
The team should reflect the values of Gold Fields and Football West, which are listed below.
Most of all, FW wants to hear stories of our golden players and coaches – past and present.
Eligibility: Nominees must have represented a WA State Team, senior or junior. When making a nomination please include as much detail as possible.
The Gold Fields and Football West values to consider are: Integrity; Responsibility; Innovation; Mutual Respect; Fair Play; Excellence
The categories for the teams are: Male and Female Junior Teams: Played in teams from age groups of U12-U18; Male and Female Senior Teams: Played in teams from U19 upwards
Nominations close Tuesday, 5 May, 2020 (see https://form.jotform.com/200910483441043 for details).
The Gold Fields WA State Dream Teams is just one initiative Gold Fields and Football West are working on as they await the resumption of grassroots football.
Football West sends Gold Fields Boys and Girls State teams to compete in Asia, while Gold Fields State sides have represented WA in National Youth Championships. The Gold Fields Boys U14s were crowned national champions in October 2019.
The inclusive Gold Fields State Paras also fly the flag for the state and took silver at the National CP Championships in Sydney last year.
Gold Fields Unit Manager/Stakeholder Relations Eddie Sheppard said: “Gold Fields remains supportive of Football West and the innovative initiatives that will ensure the sustainability of this sport in Western Australia."
Football West CEO James Curtis said, “Football West is proud of our partnership with Gold Fields and appreciates fully their ongoing support. Our two organisations will continue to work together on a number of different projects as we eagerly await the resumption of football in Western Australia, and what better way to pass the time then to think of the greats who have represented WA with pride over the last 120 years.”
