Perth RedStar became the third different leaders of the NPLWA - Men's competition in the past three weeks as they beat Perth Glory 5-0.

The twists and turns at the top of the table continued on Saturday with only three points separating the top five sides. RedStar's third straight win moved them to the summit on goal difference ahead of Stirling Macedonia with the pair overtaking previous leaders Sorrento, who fell at home to Floreat Athena.

In Joondalup, Ciaran Bramwell nodded over a good early chance for Glory, but it would be RedStar who in the front after quarter of an hour. Liam Murray played a smooth one-two with Andy Higgins and continued his run to score the opener.

Trent Ostler's effort rolled through to Pollard as the half wore on as one was enough for Kenny Lowe's side at the interval. Ultimately It was a devastating four-goal burst in 13 minutes which decided matters at RedStar arena.

Two quick headers started the flourish. Ryan Lowry met Ellis Healing's corner at the near post to make it 2-1, before Daryl Nicol found the net for an eighth straight week and made it 11 for the season when nodding in Higgins' cross.

Ellis Healing then completed the scoring with a brace as RedStar won for the sixth time this season. The playmaker arrived to finish substitute Bryce Bafford's cross before letting rip from long range to complete.

Stirling joined RedStar on 18 points after a 2-1 win away at Inglewood United, but importantly have a game in hand on their rivals.

Ian Ferguson's side struck first on seven minutes as Jack Rycroft's initial effort was saved by Alex Dunn and Asher Nelson was on the spot and getting the final touch to score.

Sam Wynne hit the bar just before half time but the lead would be doubled on 58 minutes when Alex Tanevski picked out the top corner from inside the area following Rycroft's cross.

James Bosdet tipped over Manase Abandelwa's effort as Inglewood attempted to pull one back. They eventually did deep into stoppage time when Dhuors Chol rifled home a 30-yarder for his first of the season against his former side, but time ran out for Andres Oliveira's side who sit mid-table.

Previous leaders Sorrento, meanwhile, dropped to fourth as Bayley Brown-Montgomery's hat-trick helped Floreat win 3-1 at Percy Doyle Reserve to go third.

The hosts went ahead midway through the first half when Gustavo Marulanda scored from the penalty spot after a handball from Ben Steele.

But Athena hit back six minutes later when Mohammed Al-Zaidy's cross was glanced in by Brown-Montgomery.

Both teams had chances to take the lead with Phil Arnold skying over before half time and Chris Jackson heading twice at Jason Saldaris early in the second period.

Al-Zaidy's effort was then scrambled off the line, but it was Brown-Montgomery's day as his fourth and fifth goals of the season proved a match-winning contribution.

Steele's header from Ludo Boi's corner was saved by Nathan Dobra, but the forward was on hand to tap in the rebound, before shrugging off his marker and finishing in composed passion to seal the win.

As a result of Floreat's win, Bayswater City fell outside of the top four places as they were held 1-1 by Armadale at Frank Drago Reserve.

Nic Speca made four first-half saves to deny the visitors with the pick of the bunch a sprawling save to stop a header from an Armadale set-piece.

Kosta Sparta's free-kick nearly sneaked past Yousri Gharsallah but it was Armadale who went ahead before the hour-mark through an Angel Andres penalty.

Bayswater would salvage a point late on when Ndumba Makeche poked in from six yards and the striker nearly won it at the death, but Gharsallah blocked as the spoils were shared.

At the bottom, Perth emphatically won their first game of the season as they crushed Gwelup Croatia 7-0 on the road.

Mohamed Rezai forced Luke Radonich into a good first-half save, but the Azzurri got the first goal through Paul Zimarino on his return to Gwelup and they would then career away.

Federico Achilli's header from a corner made it 2-0 before Hasani Sinclair's 16-minute hat-trick had Perth cruising and moving six points clear of safety.

Ethan Banks and Daniel Zivkovic both broke the offside trap to make it six and seven as Gwelup remain winless after eight rounds.

Balcatta are still last in the league but pulled level with Gwelup ahead of next weekend's clash between the bottom two following a 0-0 draw at Cockburn.

Jesse Lazzaro brought the best out of Riley Stephenson with a rasping drive in the first half, while at the other end Anthony Topini's deflected drive was knocked away by Ben Radonich.

The point for Cockburn edges them six points clear of the bottom two, while the visitors will be without skipper Henry Durr who saw a late red card.

Results: Balcatta 0-0 Cockburn City, Bayswater City 1-1 Armadale, Gwelup Croatia 0-7 Perth SC, Inglewood United 1-2 Stirling Macedonia, Perth RedStar 5-0 Perth Glory, Sorrento 1-3 Floreat Athena.
