Inglewood United saw their perfect start to the Men’s NPL Night Series end but Andres Oliveira’s team remain well placed to reach the semi-finals after recovering from 2-0 to draw with ECU Joondalup.

ECU, beaten 7-0 in midweek by Gwelup Croatia after fielding their youngsters, were back to near full strength and it showed at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium.

Goals late in the first half from Danny Hodgson (penalty) and Chris Harold put the Jacks in the driving seat.

But Ajak Riak pulled one back 11 minutes from time, and four minutes later Adam Falcone scored Inglewood’s equaliser.

After three matches United are top of Group A with seven points, one clear of Rockingham City who defeated Cockburn City 2-0. Dylan Rogers opened the scoring on 19 minutes, while Christos Vaenas wrapped up the result in second-half stoppage time.

Gwelup slipped to third after going down 2-1 to Perth Glory at Dorrien Gardens. Sam Mitchinson put Gwelup in front on the stroke of half-time, only for Giordano Colli and Adam Zimarino to turn the tie in Glory’s favour after the break.

In Group B, Armadale and Bayswater City both have seven points after three games.

Armadale left it late to earn a point in their match against Perth SC. Cameron Teece, with his second goal in two games, struck first for the Azzurri, but Manase Abandelawa rescued a point for Armadale four minutes from time.

A Jason Mirco double and a goal from Ndumba Makeche gave Bayswater a 3-1 win over Sorrento at E&D Litis Stadium. The Gulls’ reply came from Alex Morgan.

Floreat Athena’s poor Night Series form continued with a third straight loss, this time against Balcatta. Amir Ajan, who scored in midweek against Sorrento, was again on target for Balcatta.
