It’s two wins from two in the NPL Night Series for Floreat Athena and Balcatta following Friday night’s double-header at Frank Drago Reserve.

Floreat went into their Pool One clash against hosts Bayswater City on the back of coach Garrett McDulling’s resignation.

But with Under 20 coach Anthony Benetti taking the reins, they did a job on a Bayswater side who finished the match with 10 men.

Floreat captain Dean Evans scored twice either side of half-time, before Bayswater skipper Brent Griffiths was dismissed after receiving a second yellow card.

Substitute Liam Murray added the third in the 86th minute with a rocket.

For the second straight week Balcatta left it late before claiming the three points.

Following on from their injury-time winner against Armadale, Goran Stajic’s team struck the decisive blow in the 89th minute in beating Sorrento 3-2.

Ollie Annis put Sorrento ahead in the fourth minute, but it was all square at the break thanks to Shubham Mokala’s equaliser.

A penalty from Joe O’Brien gave Balcatta the lead before Annis made it 2-2 with his second on 57 minutes.

But Adam Zimarino popped up with the winner a minute from time to leave Sorrento with one point from two matches.

Round Two continues on Sunday with matches at Dorrien Gardens and Dalmatinac Park.
