Perth SC held at Inglewood

Report by Dennis Gedling

Perth SC gave up top spot in the NPL WA after a tense and physical 1-1 draw at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium.

In a game that lacked finishing prowess, the first shot on target was the opening goal right on half time. A ball from the right was squared to an unmarked Michael Domfeh at the far post and the former Glory youth striker slotted home for Perth.

United rallied in the second half and were awarded a penalty near the hour mark. Steve Sokol had been fouled with his back to goal by Perth’s Niccolo Sabatini, allowing Anthony Bafobusha to level from ths pot.

From here United were irresistible. Chok Dau, especially, was dangerous up front with his pacy runs. Two shots went just over the bar as Perth struggled to hold on.

An injury to Perth keeper and captain Francis Soale meant an opportunity for youngster Adrian Sinagra but he had little to do as United ran out of puff and the game petered out to a draw.

Not quite the goalfests of the past couple of United games but they would be happy to take a point off the champions.

Next week Inglewood travel to Sorrento while Perth are at home to struggling Floreat.
