Perth Glory slipped from top spot in the National Premier Leagues WA as Inglewood United made it two wins in as many games at Ashfield Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Second half goals from Ellis Healing and Alex Salmon were just enough to see Andy Keogh’s side come away with the 2-1 result.

Keogh must now prepare his squad for another tough challenge at home to Perth SC on Wednesday night.

He said: “We’ve been knocking on the door but we suffered some niggles and we haven’t had everyone up to speed with injuries to key players. But we’ve got everyone back now.

“I left out a couple of players today who probably shouldn't have been left out; with three games this week it’s great to have the quality (of depth) to do that.

“They (Glory) were at full strength today, they asked a lot of questions, they had a few chances but I think we had our fair share of chances.

"I’m delighted it all came off today."

Despite going into the break goalless, both sides had created chances which they had failed to take.

That changed 10 minutes into the second half when Healing opened the scoring with a customary spectacular strike as he chipped the ball from distance over Glory keeper Jackson Lee.

Glory hit back when Daniel Stynes cracked the ball into the roof of Alex Dunn’s net following some great combination play with Jacob Italiano.

But United went back into the lead 11 minutes from the end when Salmon got on the end of a delightful pass from Brian Woodall and slid the ball past Lee.

Despite the result, stand-in Perth Glory coach Richard Garcia was pleased with his young side’s performance.

He said: “I thought the boys played really well. I thought we dominated at times and we had a lot of chances but just didn’t really finish it off. And that was the difference.

“The boys can be proud of themselves, you can see them coming along in leaps and bounds. They are developing really well.

“It’s a disappointing result but with the amount chances we had, we could’ve won the game."

The result saw Inglewood stay within five points of leaders Bayswater City as Perth Glory slipped to fourth going into their midweek match away at in-form Armadale.
