MATCH WRAP: Bayswater's magnificent seven

Gustavo Giron Marulanda's four-goal salvo was the stand-out performance of the weekend NPL WA action as champions Bayswater City left Joondalup United in a spin at Frank Drago Reserve.

Joondalup would have been feeling pleased with their efforts after they passed the hour-mark with the match still scoreless. But once Marulanda broke the deadlock the wheels came off in spectacular style for Nick Jennings' side.

Marulanda's four goals came between the 62nd and 77th minutes, and he still had time to set up two for team-mate Gian Albano as Bayswater completed a 7-0 rout.

Almost as impressive with their second-half performance were Cockburn City, who came back from 2-1 down at the break to win 4-2 against Stirling Lions, for whom Alex Tanevski scored twice.

The Cockerels finished the game with 10 men but they were still able to maintain their 100 per cent start to the new NPL season.

ECU Joondalup coach Dale McCullough was honest enough to admit his side could play better after their 1-0 win at Floreat Athena. "It was nowhere near our best football but I don’t care how we get three points,” he said.

A quality finish from Ellis Healing three minutes from time earned Inglewood a 1-1 draw at home to Subiaco, while Perth grabbed their first win of the season thanks to substitute Paul Zimarino's 90th-minute goal against Sorrento.

The other two games finished all square: Michael Domfe rescued Perth Glory with a spectacular last-minute strike against Balcatta, while Forrestdale and Armadale swapped penalties in their local tussle at Wildlife Safari Stadium.
