Dunn signs on with Inglewood

Inglewood United have added former State custodian Alex Dunn to their playing roster for 2016.

Dunn, 29, becomes the club’s first close-season signing and represents the latest effort by coach Michael Garcia to shore up a defence whose frailties were exposed far too often last term.

“I’m excited to join Inglewood,” Dunn said. “The offer of first team football with a very ambitious and progressive club was too good to turn down. It’s a new challenge with a new team and new set of players, I know a few of them and they are the type of people you want to be around and work hard for.”

“We expect to improve as a team and there is no reason why we can’t be pushing for a top four position next year, along with giving the FFA Cup a good crack. There’s a real buzz around the club and I’ll be doing whatever I can to help bring success to Inglewood.”

Dunn is no stranger to success after winning just about everything there in the local game.   He tasted League (2007), Cup (2009) and Night Series (2011) glory during a lengthy stint with Floreat Athena and gained senior State honours in 2012 while at Perth SC, where he spent the last two seasons.   Dunn has also played for Balcatta.

Dunn says working with Garcia factored heavily in his move to Inglewood. “Michael was a big influence on my decision,” he admitted. “I had spoken to him last year about a possible move but it didn’t eventuate. I was impressed with Michael’s original approach so I was thrilled when he contacted me recently.”

“Michael has always been very direct, knows what he wants and comes across as a very open and honest person who tells it how it is. He has a strong knowledge of the game and knows how he wants his team to play, which I respect a lot. I am looking forward to working with him next season.”
