Floreat Athena ended Perth RedStar's 100% start to the season as they prevailed 3-2 and went top of the league on goal difference.

In a Round Four meeting between two likely contenders for silverware, both sides led in an evenly fought game. Ultimately it was Robert Petkov's second goal of the season which decided matters.

RedStar got off to a wonderful start with a classy opener on 11 minutes. Chok Dau showed superb control to bring down Ellis Healing's clip forward, before rifling home a rasping volley which beat Jason Saldaris all ends up.

That proved to be the wake-up call Floreat needed as they turned it around to lead at the interval. Nick Ambrogio collected Bayley Brown-Montgomery's pass to level the scores and then provider turned scorer when Brown-Montgomery found the bottom corner against his former side.

An offside flag prevented Riley Woodcock's cross-shot making it 3-1, and instead RedStar would level through their main man up top.

Sam Pollard surged down the wing with his cross perfect for Daryl Nicol to head in his fifth of the campaign and maintain his record of a goal in every NPLWA – Men’s games this year.

Floreat then had a second goal disallowed but they wouldn't be denied again as Petkov beat Joe Pollard to Ambrogio's cross and glanced in the winner with 20 minutes left.

RedStar nearly made it 3-3 at the death but Jesse Fuller hooked Nicol's effort off the line and away to safety as Athena held firm.

Only one other team won on Saturday, as Perth Glory ended Stirling Macedonia's unbeaten start with a 3-0 away win which lifted them into fourth spot.

Two goals in three minutes midway through the first half set Alex Epakis' side on their way. Lucas Cook turned home William Formston's cross at the back post and then Joshua Anasmo charged through Stirling's defence to score before celebrating in spectacular fashion with a somersault.

The three points were sealed with a third early in the second half as Louis Rossi rounded the goalkeeper and scored from a tight angle after being fed by Anasmo.

Cockburn City scored twice deep into stoppage time as they rescued a late draw at Inglewood United to pick up their first point of the season.

Manase Abandelwa made certain the opening goal crossed the line after good work from Egide Ngendakumana.

Cockburn rallied as Igor Cvijanovic and Justin Tang tested Josiah Godfrey, but Inglewood seemingly made the game safe when Anthony Bafobusha found the bottom corner in the 92nd minute.

Mirko Jelicic's side had other ideas though as Daniel Robinson weaved a passage around the edge of the area and slammed home to score what seemed a probable consolation.

And with almost five minutes of added time played, Anton Guarino crossed from the right and Jesse Lazzaro's audacious flick landed in the net to ignite Cockburn's season.

Gwelup Croatia also bagged their first point of the campaign in a 2-2 draw at 10-man Bayswater but it could have been more, had it not been for a late Jon Stynes penalty.

The visitors started brightly and went in front as Samuel Dweh burst down the right and squared for Daniel Faichney to score his first senior NPL goal, having joined from Sorrento in the off-season.

Bayswater equalised six minutes before the break when goalkeeper Nic Speca released Konstantinos Sparta to go solo down the wing and lash in brilliantly.

Gwelup led again just past the hour mark as Dweh added a goal to his assist when he broke clear and arrowed into the far corner.

Jason Mirco's red card enhanced the away side’s chances of a road win, but in stoppage time Cyril Sharrock was adjudged to have fouled Jack Allen and Stynes dispatched the spot kick against his former side.

Finally, Perth SC and Sorrento split the points with a goalless draw at Dorrien Gardens.

Mark Barnett's excellent block prevented Hasani Sinclair from getting on the end of a cross from the left in a game of few clearcut chances.

Chris Jackson's ball across the six-yard box flashed narrowly beyond Scott Witschge late on as the game ended in a stalemate.

Armadale's game with Balcatta was postponed earlier in the week due to Covid cases.
