Gwelup Croatia took advantage of ECU Joondalup’s under-strength side to run out 7-0 winners in the NPL Night Series on Wednesday night.

The league champions fielded a youthful team for the rearranged Round One tie at Percy Doyle Reserve, with none of the starting line-up which beat Perth Glory on the weekend involved.

That was of no concern to Gwelup, as Jon Stynes scored four, Hasani Sinclair got his second brace in successive games and Sam Mitchinson netted late on.

The result puts Gwelup in second place in Group A, two points behind Inglewood United who have won both their opening games.

In Group B, Armadale maintained their 100% start following a 2-0 victory over Floreat Athena at Frank Drago Reserve.

Manase Abandelawa had Armadale in front at the break and Ryan McEvoy added the second, leaving Floreat as the only team in Group B without a point.

Luke Salmon gave Perth SC a reminder of his free-kick prowess as he rescued a point for Bayswater City.

The striker curled home a second-half equaliser to cancel out Cameron Teece’s first goal for Perth SC since joining from Sorrento.

Salmon also scored a free-kick against Perth in the opening game of the 2020 league season.

Sorrento and Balcatta are still waiting for their first win of the Night Series after they played out a 1-1 draw.

Former Gull Amir Ajan scored from the penalty spot to put Balcatta ahead on the stroke of half-time.

Sorrento hit back through Timothy Hill, who brought his side level seven minutes after the break.

All of this weekend’s Round Four matches take place on Sunday evening.

At Dorrien Gardens, Gwelup meet Perth Glory (5pm) followed by Armadale v Perth SC (7pm).

At E&D Litis Stadium, the first game is Bayswater v Sorrento (5pm) then Floreat v Balcatta (7pm).

And at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium, it’s Rockingham City against Cockburn City (5pm) and ECU Joondalup v Inglewood United (7pm).
