Fremantle too strong for Subiaco

Mikayla Lyons scored a fine individual goal to put Fremantle 2-0 up

Fremantle City ran out comfortable 4-0 winners against Subiaco on Friday night as the home side missed the opportunity to move away from the foot of the NPLWA Women's table.

Subi would also have leapfrogged Fremantle with a win at Rosalie Park but that was unlikely once Annabelle Leek took Ashleigh Santich's pass in her stride and fired low across Marissa Pidgeon and into the bottom corner.

Santich then hit a close-range shot into Pidgeon's arms before Mikayla Lyons made it 2-0 on 33 minutes. The Freo captain received the the ball on the left touchline, ran inside unchallenged then shot home from the edge of the area.

Kayla McCulloch scored Fremantle's third in the 59th minute after pinching the ball off Victoria Wright just outside the area.

McCulloch was also involved in the fourth goal a few minutes later. She played a one-two with Courtney Butlion, who outran the Subi midfield before beating Pidgeon at her near post.
