Floreat Athena needed two stoppage time goals as they began their hunt for a third straight Night Series crown with a 2-1 win over Rockingham City.

BALCATTA WIN NINE-GOAL THRILLER

Charlie Betts' effort on 28 minutes looked to have been enough for City to take the three points at E&D Litis Stadium.

But Noah Shamaki (90+3) and Nelson Tsongo (90+7) turned the game on its head for the home side.

Earlier Bayswater City thrashed Cockburn City 5-0.

Luke Salmon, back at Bayswater from Perth Glory, scored a double inside the opening 22 minutes, before Daryl Nicol added a third before half-time.

Riley Warland got the fourth, then Kenny Keogh completed the scoring in the final minute.

There were plenty of goals in the early match at Dorrien Gardens as hosts Perth SC beat ECU Joondalup 4-2.

ECU led 2-1 at the interval, Ben Hinshlewood and Tommy Amphlett netting for the Jacks while Yacoub Mustafa was on target for the Azzurri.

But there was to be no winning start for ECU's new head coach Kenny Lowe, as substitutes Paul Zimarino, Jayden Gorman and Sasa Njegic ensured Perth prevailed.

In the final match at Dorrien Gardens, Inglewood United and Gwelup Croatia played out a 0-0 draw.

On Friday at Percy Doyle Reserve, Balcatta edged out Armadale 5-4 and Sorrento and Perth Glory drew 0-0.
