Glory down Rockingham

Perth Glory returned to second place with a 4-2 win over Rockingham City at E&D Litis Stadium on Sunday.

Floreat Athena had jumped Glory following their defeat of Sorrento on Saturday.

But Glory ensured it was a temporary arrangement after a double from Walter Scott, as well as a goal to Nick Walsh, gave the home side a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break.

And they didn’t look like slowing down as Ethan Brooks made it four.

Riley van Dieken nabbed two quick goals to give Rockingham something to fight for but the mountain was too high for Cam Lord's team.

Scott was a thorn in the side of the Rockingham defence early on and he was rewarded for a bursting run as he rifled a loose ball into the bottom corner after just seven minutes.

The second came just moments later as a Henry Hore corner found an unmarked Walsh for a simple header.

It was 3-0 in the 37th minute when Scott finally put the ball in the back of the net following a series of chances for the Glory attack.

When Brooks fired a low and powerful shot past Rockingham keeper Cyril Sharrock early in the second half to make it 4-0, Rockingham were in danger of a hammering.

But to their credit they kept going and van Dieken finished past Glory keeper Nicolas Speca from a tight angle to reduce the deficit.

Van Dieken claimed a second seven minutes later with a low and hard finish making its way through a crowded box and past Speca.

But it was too little, too late and it was Glory who claimed the three points.
