A Chris Jackson hat-trick continued to pile on the pain for 10-man Joondalup United as Armadale ran out 3-1 winners on a wet and windy Saturday afternoon at Percy Doyle Reserve.

The result was never in doubt for Armadale, with a woeful Joondalup performance gifting them goals throughout the encounter.

Armadale coach John O’Reilly was pleased with the win agaist the league's bottom side.

“It’s a good result, I would have loved a more polished performance but I’ll take that result.” he said.

“It’s always going to be a scrappy game against Joondalup, their position on the ladder is very misplacing, they put up a fight right till the end."

Jackson opened the scoring in the eighth minute after James Bosdet had pulled off a great save but was unable to push the ball far enough away, giving the Armadale striker an easy tap-in.

Jackson doubled the lead in the 18th minute with a looping header past Bosdet after poor Joondalup defending from a long ball gave him a free header.

With frustrations growing for the home side, Matthew Sparrow lunged in late and high, giving referee Michal Jasinski no choice but to send off the Joondalup United captain.

With the game falling apart for Joondalup, another poor defensive mistake put Jackson clean through and he calmly completed his hat-trick.

Jamie Gibson, a new signing from Belt up. Amateur Division Two side Carramar, pulled one back for Joondalup on debut in the 77th minute with a fantastic back-heel goal, but the three points were safe for Armadale.

Joondalup coach Nick Jennings found some small positives in his side's performance.

“We haven’t dealt with the long ball, defensive errors and silly mistakes, I’m starting to sound like a broken record, he said.

“We were the better team for large periods of the game, Matt Cherre and Jamie Gibson both played great, they all worked hard."
