Perth SC have beaten Stirling Lions 2-0 in the their PS4 NPLWA clash at Dorrien Gardens on Saturday afternoon to claim the Dylan Tombides Trophy.

The match, titled the Dylan Tombides Tribute match in support of the DT38 foundation, was controlled by Perth from start to finish.

After a bright start, Perth got the opening goal in the 17th minute. Following a blistering counter attack up the pitch, Frank Furfaro made no mistake placing the ball past John Perkins to open the scoring.

Just over a minute later, Perth doubled their lead. After a great through ball, Aleks Jovic beat his man and placed the ball into the far corner past the reach of Perkins.

In support of the DT38 foundation and the memory of Dylan Tombides, a minute of applause was held by both sets of supporters in the 38th minute.

Stirling came out firing after half time, with Dejan Spaseski nearly scoring in the 53rd minute. After running the ball out of midfield, the young defender took on three players before firing a powerful shot at goal, forcing a good save out of Francis Soale.

Perth SC should have put the game to bed after a fantastic run by Frank Furfaro, but Gustavo Catarcione couldn’t put the chance away, giving Perkins time to make the save.

Taylor Tombides, the brother of the late Dylan Tombides presented Perth SC with the Dylan Tombides Trophy after the game.

Perth SC coach Ramon Falzon was pleased with his sides performance.

“We played really well in the first half, we stuck to our plan,” he said.

“They threw everything at us in the second half, defensively we played really well.”

Stirling Lions coach Rob Milevski was disappointed with his side’s performance before half time.

"We started off slow in the first half, a couple lapses of concentration cost us,” he said.

“The second half we came out more aggressively and played well, but they defended very well.”
