NNSWF Launches the 2014 National Premier Leagues Competition

The best players across Northern NSW will showcase their talent in the National spotlight this weekend when Northern NSW Football’s (NNSWF) National Premier Leagues (NPL) competition kicks off.

The 2014 NPL season launch will take place on Friday night (4th April) when Edgeworth FC take on Jets Youth at Jack McLaughlan Oval, Edgeworth at 7pm.

The inaugural NPL which commenced in 2013, is a national second tier competition developed in Australia which underpins the Hyundai A-League and operates in each Member Federation under a single banner.

Now into the NPL’s second year, Northern NSW Football’s (NNSWF) clubs will join clubs from Football Federation Victoria and Football West competing for the first time.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate both Northern NSW Football and their Clubs for their continued efforts in launching the National Premier Leagues in 2014,” said FFA CEO David Gallop.

“FFA is delighted to have Northern NSW on board as we commence our first season as a truly national second tier competition following last year's launch.”

“Welcoming Northern NSW Football is an exciting development for the NPL and we look forward to working with Northern NSW Football and their Clubs to ensure the ongoing success and improvement of state league football in this region.”

Northern NSW Football’s CEO David Eland shared the excitement of Football Federation Australia CEO David Gallop.

“The National Premier Leagues is a great initiative and we are excited to be participating in a competition that will lift the standards of our premier men’s clubs and put them on the national stage.”

“The NPL is recognised as a vital component of NNSWF’s Integrated Talented Player Pathway with the Emerging Jets competing in each of the Under Age divisions and the Jets Youth competing in the Open NPL as seen in tonight’s inaugural match against Edgeworth.”

NBN television will broadcast the opening match of Round 1 of the Premier competition LIVE on the NBN website, with vision being supplied by BARTV. The Match of The Round will also be played as a delayed telecast on NBN’s website weekly across the season
