Works have commenced on the redevelopment of Frankston's VFL home, Frankston Park, with the "turning of the sod" ceremony this morning. Minister for Sport Damian Drum along with local State Member Geoff Shaw and Frankston Mayor Darrel Taylor were on hand to celebrate the occasion launch the project.
The works, expected to take around 6 months to complete, will include a new multi-purpose function centre and upgraded coaching and match day facilities.
Whilst works commenced from today, the scope of works still allows for Peninsula League finals to be staged at the venue, which is a great outcome for both the league and the club.
The AFL and AFL Victoria contributed $500,000 to the $3m project with the rest of the funding pool coming from the State Government, the City of Frankston and Frankston Football Club.
