PNG has continued their dominance of Pacific Games cricket to claim their 6th straight gold medal with a comprehensive victory over Fiji who take home the silver. In the other match Vanuatu took out the bronze medal with a 10 wicket win over New Caledonia.
PNG were comprehensive winners over Fiji today in the final round of the Pacific Games Cricket Competition in what was a preview to Friday’s gold medal match. In the other game Vanuatu notched their first win of the tournament with a 158 run win over New Caledonia.

PNG has defeated a spirited Vanuatu and Fiji has thrashed New Caledonia on the first day of the cricket competition at the Pacific Games in New Caledonia.

New Caledonia was treated to a spectacular opening ceremony to the Pacific Games last night with the highlight for East-Asia Pacific Cricket being Vanuatu captain Andrew Mansale carrying his nation’s flag into the main stadium. It was a huge moment for Mansale as he led a 277 strong Vanuatu contingent into the arena in front of a vocal capacity crowd.
