A requirement of your Academy scholarship is your voluntary attention to rostered duties to the best of your ability. Remember the mantra.
"Good, Better, Best. I will never rest until my good is better and my better best."
Your voluntary work experience time has value to the ship. It is part of your contribution to the costs of your scholarship.
If you do not attend to your rostered duties as required by Academy Master, someone else must do the work.
You will be required to pay another person normal wages for the rostered time and duties they perform for you. Academy will invoice you for such assignment of your volunteer rostered duty responsibility. This will be supervised by your Academy Master and will be noted against your attitude in the report.
Sick leave is accepted but as in most workplaces, a sick certificate is required and the roster is adjusted with no penalty to you. A sick certificate may be granted by Academy Master, ship's nurse or doctor.
Your volunteer work time is the way Academy is able to reduce the costs of your training or internship program.
