In Division 1, Vincent Cross and Will Fleming in the Hobie 16 started with a solid win over Martin Corcoran's Taipan with Glen Douglas in the A-Class Classic and Adam & Joshua Smith in their Hobie 16. Then the A-Class catamarans of Matt Johnson from Merricks and Lachie Gibson joined the racing and dominated the second race. Vinnie and Will sailed very well in a closely contested third race to come up just short against Matt.
In Divison 2, Col Franke just shaded Mark Axton in the Impulses but they were pushed hard by Ned Johnson in the Laser Radial, with Ned just seconds behind Mark in the second race.
The drama of the day was in Division 3 where Tony Bayley and Will Palmer won the first race in a club Pacer. Alan Bryson's Sabre was close enough behind them to take out the Handicap honours for that race. Bryan Hill had an early capsize which put him out of contention. After that great start to the day, things took a nasty turn when Tony managed to scalp himself quite effectively on the boom. With quite a bit of blood lost, an ambulance was called and Tony had a ride to hospital to get stitched up. Fortunately he was home later that night and is now recovering well. Meanwhile, Bryan was invigorated by his early swim and took out the next 2 races in front of Alan.
