15 competitors took part in the Le Mans start (although a few were a little late!) and then raced out through the reef and west to Merricks and Point Leo before returning to Balnarring. Division 1 and 3 competitors then headed east to Somers and half way to Sandy Point returning once again to Balnarring. Division 1 then repeated the first part of the course to Point Leo and back.
While Hugo Vandame in the new club Bic led Division 4 all the way, he decided that the course wasn't long enough for his liking and continued chasing the Pacers and Sabres towards Somers. Louis Vandame obviously paid more attention at the briefing and took the right turn across the finish line to be the first boat home. Steve Cross and Lynn Dugay in a Nacra 5.8 were the first of the catamarans home followed by Xavier Vandame and Laurinda Dugay in a Hobie 16. First home in Division 3 was Darren Sherriff from Parkdale sailing solo in his Pacer (he enjoyed the Titles so much he jumped at the chance to race again at WYC), just ahead of Kai Smith in his Optimist. Bryan Hill was the first WYC sailor home in Division 3. Vinnie Cross sailed the Nacra 4.0 supurbly (other than capsizing it twice) to take out the Division 1 prize.
Thanks very much to the race box and rescue boat crews for keeping us all safe, especially Col Pardy for volunteering his services and boat.
