Sailing Instructions
Notice of Race
Unless we receive any more late entries we have 37 women and girls registered to compete in the Sarah Blanck Regatta this weekend. We have competitors coming in from NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. Of those who provided their date of birth in their registration (we didn't make it a mandatory field!) we have an age range of 9 to 59. One competitor will be celebrating a birthday on Sunday so we might include a little celebration after the regatta dinner on Saturday night.
The competitors will be grouped as follows:
- Novice Sabres (10) - Coaches Tanya Stanford (YA Senior Sailing Instructor and Winner of Australian Women's Keelboat Regatta 2008 & 2010) and Caitlin Davies (International Laser Sailor from our neighbouring Somers YC)
- Intermediate Sabres (7) - Coach Jessica Case (Accomplished young Laser sailor from Sorrento)
- Advanced Sabres (3) - Coach Megan DeLange (Experienced Laser Radial sailor - ranked 21 in the world in 2005)
- Intermediate Lasers (6) - Coach Melissa Hitchen-Haw (2nd place 2010 Laser Youth Worlds U16 Division)
- Advanced Laser (7) - Coach Belinda Brett-Stowell (470 Olympic Gold Medallist - Sydney 2000)
- Optimist (4) - Coach Eliza Solly (1st Youth Girls at 2012 29er World Championships)
Forecast is for a warm day on Saturday with some tricky northerly winds ahead of a strong south westerly change late in the day. Sunday looks like perfect sailing conditions with a gentle southerly in the morning building towards 15 knots later in the day.
All is in readiness for a terrific weekend at WYC.
