A steady 5 - 10 knot southerly welcomed a small fleet for the first races of the season.
In Division 3, it was one race apiece for Bryan Hill and Alan Bryson.
The real competition was in Division 1. Pip Pietromonaco and James Wierzbowski lapped the field in both races but behind them racing was very tight. In heat 1 second place went to Adam Smith and Will Fleming in BlackJack in front of Robbie Lovig and Glen Douglas in Scott Lovig Hobie, Andrew Hill in Whiteside Express, Meagan Bursa and Tegan in Vitamin Sea and Steve Cross and Lynn Dugay in Felony.
In heat 2, Robbie and Glen took second place, Adam (sailing with Josh Smith) took third, Meagan and Tegan took fourth, Steve and Lynn fifth and Andrew brough up the rear. In both races there was not much more than 3 minutes between second and sixth places.
Next Sunday we have the first heat of the Commodores Cup where boats of all divisions compete on yardstick. With 20+ knots forecast conditions should favour the cats but John Eriksson and Andrew Fijalkowski will be out to defend their title so we should see a great race.
