Through the Vic Health Women and Girls in Sailing project Yachting Victoria, in conjunction with the Women and Girls in Sailing (WGIS) Committee, are working to support clubs to increase female participation.
The role of WGIS Club Representative is open to either men or women and is somebody who works to positively promote female friendliness at your club.
WYC would like to nominate a member to the WGIS Club Representative role. The nominated person should be passionate about sailing, a good communicator and will act as the initial contact point for prospective and existing female sailors. The Club Representative creates a direct link between the clubs and the WGIS Committee and will assist in the engaging more females in sailing. The Club Representative wouldn’t sit on the Women and Girls in Sailing committee.
The Women and Girls in Sailing website http://www.womenandgirlsinsailing.com.au/ is a great focal point for female sailing. Articles from clubs about their female sailing activities and their local heroes are posted here.
If you would like to be WYC's Club Representative please contact any member of the committee or email info@westernport.org.au
