Legislative changes dictate that we must update our constitution. Your feedback is sought on this fundamental document.
Westernport Yacht Club was originally incorporated in 1986 under the Victorian Associations Incorporation Act 1981. That Act was replaced on 26 November last year with the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012. It is necessary to update the constitution of the Club so as to comply with the new Act.
Fortunately, we have been able to tap into the expertise of club member Tony Lang, a specialist in this legislation, to assist us with this exercise. After meetings with your committee, Tony has produced this draft of our our new constitution and explanatory notes to assist members to understand the document.
The committee urges all members to review this draft. Any questions, feedback or suggestions should be e-mailed to info@westernport.org.au
After reviewing all correspondence received on this matter, the committee has scheduled an information session for members at 12.30 on November 24 at the club. Following the information session we will take the final draft of the document to an Extraordinary General Meeting at 12.30 on December 8 at the club.
In order for the new constitution to be adopted we must have a quorum on December 8. if you cannot make the meeting then please appoint a proxy - either someone you know will be in atendance or a member of the committee. Click to download the Notice of Special General Meeting and Proxy Form.
