6 WYC members participated in the Sauna Sail regatta at Hazelwood Pondage on the long weekend - all the results here!
This year's Sauna Sail was a great event:
A fleet of approx 140 boats in total over 11 divisions including sailability
Conditions were light and flukey for all races
Racing was relaxed and cordial, everyone enjoyed being on the water!
LVYC do a great job and run a great and unique regata
The Junior division had 20 entrys, including Optis, Sabots, Minnows and Hobie Hawks
We need representitives in this division next year!
Division 3
Mark Axton (Impulse) and Carey and Pat Pedicini (Tasar) represented WYC
Pat and Carey came in 26th great effort for 2 heats only
Mark Finished 29th. (Mark had to miss the last Race to make it back to Bendigo)
Division 2
Michele and Megan Bursa (WYC SSYC), Hobie 16, were 14th.
Robbie Lovig and Sarah Newman (WYC) on the Hobie 16 came in 18th.
Neither raced on the Monday
Not great conditions for Hobie 16's, the Mossies liked the light conditions more
I got a 6th place on the Mosquito - by total stubborness, finished all races.
I was the last boat off the water on Sunday afternoon (evening) - need to fit headlights to the boat!
The camping was great fun - the fun was keeping warm!
Plenty of campfires to meet other sailors at and have a chat.
All WYC Sailors should consider being part of the 2014 Sauna Sail - it would great to have a strong WYC contingent next year!
What else can you do on the Queens Birthday weekend??
