Pip and Jimbo take out final heat of the Commodore's Cup
In a moderate Northerly breeze with flat seas, Pip Pietromonaco and James Wierzbowski smoked around the course in the Viper to take out the final heat of the Commodore's Cup for season 2012-13. The course was set inside the reef to ensure a quick race so that crews could be off the water in time for the afternoon's Anniversary function. Colin Franke took out second place with Vincent Cross in 3rd. Special mention to Xavier and Hugo Vandam, brand new members who didn't compete but completed the course in theri Laser.
In the Green Fleet Optimist race Lucy Gray took out first place in front of Jeremy Gray and Robbie Lang
Following the race all boats lined up for a sail past to mark the Anniversary function. While trying to salute the Commodore, Nicholas Jurovic managed to fall in the water and demonstrate the man overboard procedure!

Results calculation
Corrected Average Lap Times are calculated by taking the elapsed time for the competitor, dividing by the number of triagles sailed (1 for the Optimists up to 4 for the fastest catamarans), dividing this time by the yardstick for the class (e.g. 164 for the Optimists, 118.5 for the Impulses, 107.5 for the Tasars, 81.5 for the Hobie 16s), multiply by 100 and for catamarans mulitply by a 'Multihull Correction Factor' calculated by the system - for this heat the factor was 1.012.
