Commodore's Cup racing this weekend and registrations for our 50th Anniversary function now open.
This Sunday we have coaching in the morning and Heat 4 of the Commodore's Cup at 1.30. For those who haven't sailed the Commodore's Cup series before, this is a longer format race where all boats are competing against each other to find which boat sails best against their yardstick (handicap) on the day. This has been a keenly fought competition so far this season with seven different skippers (Mark Axton, Vincent Cross, John Eriksson, James Fleming, Andrew Hill, Bryan Hill and Adam Smith) taking out a place in at lest one of the first 3 heats. We look forward to another big racing fleet to find out who is the fastest (and slowest!) boat at the club this month.
To mark the 50th year of sailing at Westernport Yacht Club, there will be a 'Back to Balnarring' celebration day at the club on April 7. This will be a fantastic opportunity for members of yesteryear to catch up with old friends and share stories with the current generation of 'boaties' at the club. We have assembled some great memorabilia with old West Port Bounds, photographs and even some video footage from the 60's which will all be on display on the day. There is no cover charge.
To make this a truly memorable event we need your help to get the word out. At the moment we have registrations from current active members including the Crabtrees, Jim Douglas and the Joneses and also past stalwarts of the club such as the Andersons, the Coopers, the Smiths and the Webers. As well as registering yourself, please pass on the invitation to other members from years gone by who are probably not receiving this bulletin. In particular I'm looking for someone to contact Daryl Heywood, the Holding clan, Ralph Lloyd and Martin Lowe, if you know any of these folk please get them to register or contact Adam Smith at info@westernport.org.au or 0404 885 348
If you can get there - please let us know by clicking here to register
