Remember to register for social functions and get involved in sailing school, sailing activities and the Discover Sailing days.
Online registration for the New Year's Eve, Trivia Night and Jazz Night functions is now available from the Club website (click link on the right hand side of the front page or under the Social Events menu). Note that there is a significant discount for buying your tickets early for the Jazz night so please make sure you get in before January 6. The Trivia Night also will fill up fast so don't miss out.
Holidaying with kids suffering bandwidth separation anxiety? The newly carpeted younger-set room has free wi-fi so feel free to hang out there, play some basketball on our half court, table tennis upstairs or generally take a break from the beach. To get wi-fi you need to see Adam Smith who will need the MAC address of your device to grant access.
We have 3 weeks of Tackers programs (kids aged 7 - 12) commencing on January 1 and 2 weeks of Sailing School (for everyone) commencing on January 2. Tackers is pretty much booked out but we still have 4 vacancies in the first week (January 2 - 4) of Sailing School. If you are interested in developing your basic sailing skills (great idea for Tackers parents) please check out o\the Sail Training - Learn To Sail page on the website or contact Marg Douglas - margidoug@Bigpond.com
The next sailing event is on Sunday, January 6 with coaching in the morning and the 3rd heat of the Commodore's Cup in the afternoon. Anyone keen for a competitive sail before then please check out the Merricks and Somers YC programs and support our neighbouring clubs. Thursday January 2nd there is an invitation race at Pt. Leo and Friday January 4th there is a cruise to Sandy Point.
On Saturday January 11 and Sunday January 12 we will be opening the club to visitors and the local community to provide an opportunity to try sailing and find out what our club is all about. We'll be looking to sailing members to bring their boats to take members of the public for a sail. Non-sailing members can help out on rescue boats, looking after our guests while they are on shore or helping with the BBQ. Please let Adam Smith know if you can help out in any way on the day - adam.and.karen.smith@Bigpond.com
Also on the afternoon of January 11 we will have the annual Three Peaks race which is always lots of fun.
