Best Wishes to all members and friends of Westernport Yacht Club for a happy Christmas celebration.
On behalf of the committee best wishes are extended to all members and friends of the club for a joyous Christmas celebration.
I was great to see some of our newest members enjoying a day at the club and being able to cool off at the beach. The wind conditions for the races varied from a moderate northerly up to 15 in the morning for the Coaching group to very light to zero in the afternoon. However all that went out enjoyed themselves.
The coaching group has been a great success this year. This is mainly due to the excellent coordination work done by Noel Gibson. His passion for the development of our younger sailors has been clearly evident and through his enthusiasm the club has been able to develop a highly talented group of coaches and budding skippers. It was terrific to see so many of our younger members attending the morning Coaching group and to thank Noel for all his work. The club in consultation with Noel has further developed the program to take us into the next season and beyond.
Members please note that yard space for boat storage is becoming scarce, especially in the mast up sections. If you require a space please contact the Storage Officer Lyn Dugay on 0403 741 471. A reminder that trailers are not to be stored in the yard unless they have a boat on them.
Lockers. There are a number of lockers in both male and female changerooms still available for rent for the season. The cost is $20. If you require a locker please contact Roger Crabtree at the club.
Discover Sailing Day. This will be held on January 13th for anyone interested in trying the sport for the first time. The club requires the assistance of as many members as possible to make the day a success. Please contact Adam Smith the Vice Commodore if you can help out.
