Westernport Yacht Club, in the interests of sustainable recreational fishing practices, is breaking from its tradition of an annual fishing competition and introducing an exciting, inclusive and ecologically sound approach to competitive angling.
Right up until the end of the sailing season in April, WYC members are invited to photograph their fishing successes and email the pictures, along with comments, such as details of names, dates, species and locations to WYC’s Powerboat Captain, Barry Greer (barry@nautilustraining.com.au).
The contributions will be uploaded to the club’s website and outstanding, unusual or particularly interesting examples will be acknowledged by being nominated as “Catch Snap of the Week”. At the end of the season, all emailed submissions will be reviewed and two new awards will be presented at WYC’s end-of-season presentation event:
“WYC Snap your Catch” Angler of the Year,
and
“WYC Snap your Catch” Junior Angler of the Year (under 18 yrs)
Sponsorship for both of these awards is still up for grabs, at the moment. Businesses and other potential sponsors of the awards are encouraged to contact Barry.
