The Optis clean up in light winds
A challenging afternoon of racing saw Vincent Cross take out the first heat of the Commodore's Cup by 1 second over James Fleming. Sailing Officer Andrew Hill managed to thread a course through the reefs and we started with a north westerly of 5 - 10 knots. Michelle Bursa and Chelsea Haynes came across from Somers to join the race and provided early entertainment when they reached the windward mark first only to somehow manage to capsize on the first reach. Racing was tight but the wind dropped before dying completely and coming back from the south east to get the last boats across the line.

Results calculation
Corrected Average Lap Times are calculated by taking the elapsed time for the competitor, dividing by the number of triagles sailed (1 for the Optimists up to 4 for the fastest catamarans), dividing this time by the yardstick for the class (e.g. 164 for the Optimists, 118.5 for the Impulses, 107.5 for the Tasars, 81.5 for the Hobie 16s), multiply by 100 and mulitply by the individual's club handicap at the time of the race (based on previous results this season).
