Competition Rules
It is recommended that a team shall comprise of at least eight (8) players and no more than twelve (12). The list of team members will be confirmed on the first day of competition by tournament management. No additions may be made after this time.
Players may play for only one team in the competition.
To qualify for finals or crossovers, a player must have played in at least two matches or one half of the teams round robin matches, whichever is fewer.
Competition Format
Each division will be played in two sections - round robin then crossovers and finals. Round Robin results will gain tournament points as the following:
Forfeit 0 points
Loss 1 point
Win 3 points
Round robin matches will be played in three fixed sets, rally point first to 25 with a two-point advantage and no ceiling. Crossovers will be played over the best of three rally point sets to 25 with a two-point advantage and no ceiling. The deciding set shall be rally point to 15 with a two-point advantage and no ceiling.
Gold medal playoffs shall be played over the best of five rally point sets to 25 with a two-point advantage and no ceiling. The deciding set shall be rally point to 15 with a two-point advantage and no ceiling.
In the case of mixed age divisions, the combined division will be played as a round robin. The finals will be played as separate age divisions and medals will be awarded to teams in each division.
Competition Standards
The volleyball competition at the Games will be conducted under the auspices, rules and regulations of the Federation Internationale De Volleyball and will also conform to any special requirements of the International Masters Games Association (IMGA).
Volleyball Victoria will conduct the competition.
Estimated Number of Games
It is expected that teams will play a minimum of two games per day leading up to the finals.
Practice Facilities
Practice facilities will be available. Teams will also be permitted to warm up prior to their scheduled games on spare courts for both indoor and beach volleyball competitions.
