Rules and Regulations
Touch Conditions of Entry
1. PRIZES. No prize money will be offered. There will be gold, silver and bronze medallions for the first 3 placegetters in each division for each member of the team.
2. FORMAT. Round robin for all divisions. 7 a side teams. Each player must play a minimum of 3 round robin games to be eligible to play in finals.
3. ELIGIBILITY. All teams must have correctly completed entry forms and have forwarded them to the Masters Games Office with the appropriate registration fee prior to the close of entries on August 5 2002. All players must compete only in the team/s for which they are registered.
4. AGE REQUIREMENTS. Women must turn 30, 35, 40 by 31 December 2002. Men must turn 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 by 31 December 2002. The age division in which any team may compete is determined by the age of its youngest member.
5. ACCREDITATION. Players must have proof of age, to be produced on demand. The following will be accepted as proof of age: birth certificate, photo licence and passport. Players must have been accredited in accordance with Games Committee requirements prior to the first day of competition.
6. RULES. The Australian Touch Association (ATA) playing rules current edition will apply unless otherwise stated.
7. TEAM COMPOSITION. Each team may register a maximum of 14 players. No player can compete in two teams in the mens/womens divisions. Players may play in a mens/womens team and in one mixed team. Team lists signed by each player must be submitted at the Managers Meeting on the first day of competition.
8. DURATION OF GAMES. Each game will be of 2 x 15 minute halves with a half time break of 5 minutes. The deciding medal round (final) will be 20 minutes each way with a half time break of 5 minutes. In each division, teams finishing 1 & 2 will play for gold and silver medallions, whilst teams finishing 3 & 4 will compete for the bronze medallions. Each team will play a minimum of 4 games over the competition period, subject to final composition of divisions.
9. TOUCHBALLS. All teams must use the official Touchball supplied by the Victorian Touch Association (VTA).
10. INSURANCE. The Games Registration includes basic insurance cover. Players should make their own arrangements for extra cover. (refer terms and conditions - games entry)
11. BEHAVIOUR. It is the responsibility of each team leader, coach and/or manager to ensure that the on and off field behaviour of their team members is of the standard expected by the ATA. In the event of any confirmed reports to the contrary and if such reports are sustained, the VTA will take the strongest possible disciplinary action against those concerned. Foul language will not be tolerated on the playing field.
12. DISPUTES AND JUDICIARY. Disputes of judicial matters will be heard and determined by the Disputes and Judiciary Committee. Protests in writing on the official protest form must be lodged to the control desk within 10 minutes of the completion of the event in question.
13. SUSPENSIONS. In the event of a player being sent from the field for the remainder of the game, an automatic two match suspension will apply unless the Judiciary Committee determine further action is necessary. Two matches is determined by the next two matches a team participates in. A bye is not included as a match played. A team that wins by forfeit counts as a game played, however, a team losing by a forfeit will not.
14. UNIFORMS. All playing uniforms including numbered shirt, shorts, socks and shoes must be correct for each team by the commencement of competition. Teams are not permitted to use white playing shirts under any circumstances.
15. MANAGERS MEETING. There will be a compulsory managers meeting for a briefing for each team on the first day of competition at the administration area, Pit Straight Buildings, Albert Park on Tuesday 8 October at 8am.
16. SIGN ON SHEETS. Signing on will be required prior to the commencement of each game. Referees and other officials will check accreditation passes. Teams must not play any unaccredited players. Penalties will apply.
17. RIGHT TO AMEND. The Controlling Committee reserves the right to amend any of the above Conditions of Entry.
18. DISCLAIMER. No responsibility for any injury incurred during the playing of the competition is accepted by the VTA, its Masters Committee or the World Masters Games Melbourne 2002.
