Venue Information
The Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) is an International standard sporting venue, and is one of the largest integrated sports and leisure complexes in Australia. The venue will play host to several sports during the Melbourne 2002 World Masters Games, allowing competitors to get a taste of some of the other sports being played at the Games.
The 50 metre competition pool has ten lanes numbered 1 through to 0, so dont be confused if you end up being allocated in Lane 0; that does not mean youre not in the race. Lockers are available for hire in the swimming pool area. Separate male and female change rooms are provided.
How to get there
Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre is located on Aughtie Drive (near the corner of Albert Road) in Albert Park and is easily accessed by boarding a Number 112 tram from Collins Street or a Number 96 light rail from Bourke Street in the city.

Disabled Swimmers
Disabled swimmers can compete in the Swimming competition. Please note that there will not be a separate section for disabled swimmers they will be incorporated in with the other swimmers. Mark on your entry form that you are disabled, then the swimming organisers can be aware of your needs.
Warm Up/Swim Down
The pool will be available for your warm up between 8:30 am and 9:00 am each day. After the meet has commenced at 9:00 am you will have access to the 25-metre lap pool for warm up or swim down.
Limit of Five Individual Pool Events
The 400m and 800m Freestyle events will be deck seeded from slowest to fastest, regardless of age, and may be swum two (2) swimmers of the same gender in a lane.
Entries without nominated times will be seeded in the slowest heat.
Relays
Nominations for Relay events, including team member's names, are to be made at the pool when called for on the day of the event. All relay team members must have entered at least one individual event, and may not swim for more than one team in each relay event.
Mixed relay teams must consist of two (2) men and two (2) women.
Please also note that to break a Masters World Relay Record, all members of a relay team must belong to the same club and each must be registered with their Federation. Composite teams are only eligible to break "Games" Records.
Competition Standards
The swimming competition at the Games will be conducted under FINA Masters Swimming Rules current at the time of close of entries. It will also conform to any special requirements of the International Masters Games Association (IMGA).
AUSSI Masters Swimming in Australia Inc will conduct the competition.
Swimming Program
You will receive a swimming program after you have completed accreditation at the Games Centre. Please check the program immediately to make sure all your details are correct and that you know which heat and
lane you will be in for each event.
A marshalling board will be displayed on the pool deck, however it is the responsibility of the individual entrant to ensure that they are present in the marshalling room in time for their event. An information desk will be provided to assist competitors if they are not sure where to go or what to do.
