Netball NZ - Fortnightly Update 9/12/16

Hi everyone,

It was great to attend the NZ U21 camp last month and to see the squad named to represent New Zealand at the Netball World Youth Cup GABORONE 2017 (NWYC2017). Everyone that participated in trials did incredibly well – it was a tough job for the selectors!

We are delighted to have our NZ Secondary Schools (NZSS) management team in place – with Mary-Jane Araroa and Charissa Barham as head coach and assistant coach, respectively. Both Mary-Jane and Charissa have come through the NNZ Coaching framework and have been supported by High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ) programmes in recent times – it is great to see opportunities for both these coaches.

The Silver Ferns are also in camp this week. I have had the privilege of listening to them present on their personal plans for the upcoming campaign; we have a group of highly committed and proud athletes in our sport! With these strong leaders on the court (and off the court) I am really excited about what next year will bring.

It’s been another big year for everyone in the Netball community. As this is the last NNZ Update before Christmas, I hope you have a restful break with friends and family and return re-energised for 2017.

Have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
