NNZ News Update 15 January 2016

MESSAGE FROM NETBALL NEW ZEALAND CHIEF EXECUTIVE

Happy New Year to you all,

I trust you had a relaxing and enjoyable time over the Christmas and New Year period with your family and friends.

I would like to congratulate three Netball stalwarts who were recognised in the New Year Honours, acknowledging their individual Netball contribution and achievements: Waimarama Taumaunu MBE (Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, ONZM), Jodi Brown and Carole Maddix (Members of the New Zealand Order of Merit, MNZM). It is rewarding to see Netball featuring in the NZ honours system which is a public way of saying thanks and well done to those who have served and those who have achieved in their area of expertise – read the full story.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding 2016 for Netball in New Zealand with the launch of the National Netball League, a new international competition with SANZEA, the launch of pilot programmes for ANZ futureFERNS Years 5 & 6, the second New Zealand Netball Awards, and much more.

Our High Performance team have hit the ground running and are looking forward to the first Silver Ferns and National Development Squad Camp, which gets underway next week.

Also, don’t forget registrations close for the Netball NZ AGM and Council on Wednesday 20 January and we look forward to adding your name to the list of attendees.
