The age group of your team is determined by the age of the youngest player in your team.
Competition Details The netball program will be staged over eight days. All teams will be placed into pools and play teams within their pool to determine the top four positions. Crossover matches will then be held to decide the placings for finals. Qualifying criteria for finals to be advised.

Matches for all sections will be 4 x 10 minutes, 5 minutes at half time and 3 minutes at quarter time and three-quarter time. Unlimited substitutions will be allowed at any interval.

It is anticipated that teams in the 35-39 and 40-44 sections will play 2 games per day and the 45-49, 50-54 and 55+ sections will play one.

Competition Standards The netball competition at the Games will be conducted under the auspices of Netball Australia in accordance with the International Federation of Netball Associations rules. The competition will also conform to any special requirements of the International Masters Games Association.

Netball Victoria will conduct the competition.
Grade Definitions Where possible sections will be graded. Grading will be based on the following and entries should indicate level on entry form.

Regular (Equivalent to A Grade): This grade is for teams who have a number of members who regularly compete in a competition of a high standard
Special Events: (Equivalent to Reserve Grade) This grade is for teams who have a number of members who compete in Masters/special events or regularly compete in a domestic competition
Social: (Equivalent to C Grade) This grade is for teams whose members play on a social/non regular basis. These teams may have a number of members who are not currently involved in competitive netball

Practice Facilities There are a number of good indoor courts with close proximity to the city that may be available for hire for teams wishing to practice prior to and during the event. Teams need to make bookings directly with the venues.

Other Information Each team will be required to provide a qualified umpire to officiate the competition. Proof of qualifications must be presented. In Australia the minimum qualification is a 'C' Grade badge. Umpires provided by teams for netball DO NOT pay a registration fee. All umpires will receive a complimentary accreditation pass and kit as thanks for the service they are providing to the Melbourne 2002 World Masters Games.


Umpires MUST accredit at the Games Centre to receive their accreditation pass.
