Venue Information
Royal Melbourne Golf Club is the venue for the golf final at the Games. Royal Melbourne is located approximately 16 kilometres from the Melbourne City Centre. The course is part of Melbournes sand belt region and has regularly rated in the top 5 of the worlds best golf courses.
The golf competition will also be hosted by 12 other courses around Melbourne and on the Mornington Peninsula, all recognised as some of Australias best.

Men / Women: 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65-74, 75+

Competition Details
Events: Day 1 - Individual Par
Day 2 - Individual Stableford
Day 3 - Individual Stroke
Final Individual Stroke
Championship Conditions will be forwarded to all competitors upon close of entries.
Proposed Format
Four different courses within the Golf Program will be utilised each day on 3 separate competition days to accommodate up to 800 competitors. All competitions will be played over 18 holes. Competitors will be divided between host venues on the basis of total entries received per age/gender groups. Groupings will vary for each event to enable players to mix with different competitors.
On each day of competition, gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the 3 leading players in each age/gender category. In addition, leading players will qualify for the Golf Final to be held at Royal Melbourne Golf Club.
Maximum handicaps permissible are 27 for men and 45 for women. Handicaps must be stated on the official entry form. Proof of current Club handicap or Golfpass (for local entrants) must be shown on the day of competition. Players must play from their current handicaps at all times. The Championship Committee reserves the right to amend a players handicap following each round of the Championship. Following the close of entries, two separate handicap divisions will be determined for each age/gender category provided a minimum of fifty entries are received in that category.

The leading player from each age/gender category and handicap category (where applicable) will qualify for the final. Additional players from the age/gender category(s) with the largest entry levels will qualify for the final on a proportional basis.

The player with the leading gross score and the player with the leading nett score from each age/gender category and handicap category (where applicable) will qualify for the final. Additional players from the age/gender category(s) with the largest entry levels will qualify for the final on a proportional basis.

Day 4 18 Hole Final Individual Stroke Monday 14 October 2002
Venue: Royal Melbourne Golf Club Cheltenham Road, Black Rock
120 players will qualify for the Melbourne 2002 World Masters Championship Final to be held over 18 holes at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club. The event will be an individual stroke. Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the gross and nett sections in each age/gender category.
Competition Standards
The Victorian Golf Association will conduct the golfing competition at the Games. The competition shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as adopted by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, Scotland together with any local rules as may be applicable. Any dispute shall be decided by the Championship Committee whose decision shall be final. The competition will conform to any special requirements stipulated by the International Masters Games Association (IMGA).
Additional Information
Spikes & Slicks Most Clubs have a no metal spikes policy. Soft spikes are preferred. Wheel slicks are compulsory at some Clubs and competitors should make provision for this.
Dress code Neat casual golfing apparel is required both on course and in the clubhouse.
(No denim, collarless shirts or joggers are permitted)
Hand pull buggies Buggies are available at all venues and may be hired on the day for a nominal fee.
Motorised carts A limited number are available only to competitors with special needs eg: medical condition or disability evidenced by a medical certificate accompanying their Entry Form. Hiring of carts is a user pays system.
