Venue Information
The range has produced a reputation for producing extremely challenging climatic conditions. It is currently undergoing a major redevelopment in readiness for the Melbourne 2002 World Masters Games and the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
The project will cost in excess of $1 million and will include a multi functional building. This site will increase its target facility and will provide a range of 1000 yards.
How to get there
To drive to Bendigo take the Tullamarine Freeway section of CityLink from Melbourne (CityLink is a toll way and you will need to organise a day pass with your rental car company). Follow the Tullamarine Freeway until you reach the Calder Interchange and take the right hand lanes to the Calder Freeway (not towards the airport). The Calder Freeway will take you all the way to Bendigo.
If going directly to Bendigo from the airport take the Western Ring Road back towards Melbourne and look for the Calder Freeway exit to the left. The Calder Freeway will take you all the way to Bendigo. You do not need to pay any tolls for this road.
A regular Melbourne to Bendigo V/Line (country) train service departs from Spencer Street in the city and takes about 2 hours.

Competition Standards
The full bore shooting competition at the Games will be conducted under the auspices, rules and regulations of the National Rifle Association of Australia.
The Victorian Rifle Association will conduct the competition.
Grade Definition
A, B, C, F Class
Practice Facilities
The Victorian Veterans Rifle Shooters will be conducting a prize meeting on Wednesday the 9th October
2002, commencing at 9am.
Ammunition
Competitors will be able to purchase ammunition from a retail outlet at the venue.
Security for Equipment
An armoury for the safe storage of firearms will be provided.
Other Information
Special Requirement
Competitors must be a member of a National Shooting Organisation.
Interstate shooters are not required to obtain any type of Victorian permit. Australian shooters simply need to ensure their firearm is registered and their licence is current.
International Shooters are required to obtain:
- An International Visitor Firearm Permit,
- A Customs Import Permit, and
- A Customs OR Department of Defence, Export Permit.
The necessary application forms and information will be forwarded to competitors, or can be obtained from the Games office.
Travel to Official Games Opening Ceremony in Melbourne
Competitors and Registered Accompanying Persons based in Bendigo will receive free return travel to Melbourne on Sunday 6 October 2002, allowing them to participate in the Opening Ceremony.
